Sean Jones Quartet

Sean Jones is an acclaimed musician who has been turning heads in the jazz world for two decades.

Apart from having eight critically-lauded records as a bandleader, he’s known for having played with prominent jazz artists like Illinois Jacquet, Jimmy Heath, Frank Foster, Nancy Wilson, Dianne Reeves, Gerald Wilson, and Marcus Miller.

About Sean Jones’s Career

He was the lead trumpeter for the Wynton Marsalis’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and spent two years as a member of the SFJAZZ Collective. As if this wasn't enough, Sean Jones was the selected trumpeter by Miller, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter for their Tribute to Miles tour in 2011.

Not only does Sean Jones have an impeccable and admirable career, but he’s also an incredible and acclaimed music educator. He began being chair of the Brass Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and since 2018, he’s served as chair of jazz at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute.

What’s more, he also serves as Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall's education program NYO Jazz and participates in the annual UMass Amherst High School Jazz Festival with his latest quartet.

Sean Jones Quartet

The Sean Jones Quartet features bandleader Sean Jones, pianist Orrin Evans, drummer Mark Whitfield Jr, and bassist Kristopher Funn.

Evans was born in 1975 in Trenton. New Jersey and was raised in Philadelphia, developing a passion for jazz at an early age.

As for drummer Mark Whitfield Jr, he was born in 1990 in Brooklyn, NY but was raised in Baton Rouge, LA. His love for music was passed down by his father, guitarist Mark Whitfield, who quickly realized his son was very interested in becoming a drummer since he was a little kid.

Finally, bassist Kristopher Funn was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and began playing the trumpet at the age of four and switched to playing bass when he was 14.

As stellar figures of the music industry, we’re delighted to have them in our house for a magical and unforgettable evening.
